An important fishing harbor in the Suzaki area where people have made their living from fishing since olden times. Many fishing boats which even today catch kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), Shimoda’s special marine product, boats with female divers, and recreational fishing boats anchor in the area which brings activity to the area. A traditional activity during the summer festival is the carrying of a portable shrine into the sea.
