“Kaikoku Shimoda Minato” is the name of a four-story roadside station located just steps from Shimoda Bay and Shimoda Fish Market. In addition to souvenir shops, the facility also features a restaurant where customers can enjoy eating kinmedai (splendid alfonsino), a type of fish that is caught more in Shimoda than any other area in Japan. There are also a tourist information counter where visitors can collect Shimoda sightseeing and lodging information. The Shimoda Harbor Museum and JGFA Marlin Museum are both located on the fourth floor.
